I disagree. I think that if I was hunting a bird in the wild(ie turkey, quail, or some other bird wild game) I'd much rather use a spear than a sword. Being able to sneak up and strike from a distance or from below would be a great strategy.

well ideally you'd use a bow or a gun

Well I'm thinking more ancient hunting. Back during the hunting/gathering age. Obviously a gun/bow would be better but as far as melee weapons go a spear would excel.

more ideally, you'd be a samurai, far from home in a strange land. Then you see a bird and get SUPER FUCKING PUMPED, stab it 5 times with your spear, meditate for a half second (maybe ponder the meaning of life), then stab it 5 times again. All the while you need to be yelling "THE CHAIN WILL NOT BE BROKEN" in your native tongue.

That my friend, is how you kill birds.

it's also helpful if you have someone sing to you to cheer you on.

They're selling the entire collection for $8 on steam this weekend.
I bought it because nostalgia is totally worth $8.

Where did Pande go? D:
I left ffxi to update overnight and tried to make a character this morning, but I can only see like 10 servers.

They merged servers due to population. I don't know when/which, but I'm assuming that's what happened.

The name "Kip" was taken on Asura. I am sad. I've been Kip forever :(
