XIII has been touted as awful, which I fully blame on the lack of towns and class customization. Even the makers said that "it's less than an RPG" because it lacks the key features of the RPG template.
The end product just became a boring, linear CGIfest that mostly plays itself.
the earliest I can confirm this is Friday, when hopefully I can rent this. Since the beta "promo" is just for a beta item and a chance at the beta, I see no point in supporting Square by buying it. Also, $60 for a game is highway robbery.
also, Gramz: please edit this into the first post, because it is oozan with relevance.

It's called making something intuitive ( not that is a good thing in this case) I agree I spend a lot of time watching Cut Scenes then battling. I was told by a friend this game was hard, now being at the beginning I find it very easy if you know how to work your paradigm shifts.
some people will say because it is intuitive ( all that means is making it easier for the user to use.) for people like us who've mostly probably played a lot of FF and come to expect certain things or challenges this can lead to disappointment.
They seem to make everyone more versetile in abilities which I'm not sure if I am a fan of yet. Because I like specific rolls in my party, also I dunno if this changes but I don't find switching to different characters during the story to my liking. I don't want to play the comic relief as main person for part of the story infact. I just want to play Lighting, they don't give enough info on her yet to not find her intriguing to play.
I don't like how everyone can either be caster, healer, dd, tank type stuff based on how you build there little abilities. So far I find this game way to easy I often hate easy games. Story is okay
Also I find all the characters oddly similiar to other ff favorites. I find lighting to be a chick cloud. (even similar hair), snow reminds me of Zell, sazh reminds me of barret, fang right now reminds me of vincent, the little girl reminds me of rikku. I dunno, that is how I see it.
But all and all I'd like to play a story in ff not witness it. I'm not paying 60 dollars for cut scenes every 10 minutes. It is the same reason I didn't finish Xenosaga.
